OUR HISTORY

Main Street Books opened its doors on March 2006 at 16 South Main Street and moved to its larger location. 106 South Main,  on Feb. 27 2008.

In February of 2014 we got real cocky and thought we should stop renting and we should own our own building. We bought the building at 8 Main Street South and went crazy exposing brick, pulling up old flooring and giving the store some of our own personal creative touches. This building was once a Kresge's store (which was a precursor to today's KMart store) and a Jupiter store, which was a five and dime store. At the time that Main Street Books bought the building it was owned by Western Paint & Glass.

Main Street Books continues to grow in its mission and in its involvement in the community by serving as a venue for many local authors .
