The writing was just so good. From the beginning to the end of the book it was much like life-- lots of trials and tribulations and suddenly we are all older and wondering "what now?" This book left me feeling that there is a whole lot of answer to that "What now?" and my life -- even as I near the age of 60-- can be just as exciting and full of adventure as it was in my 20's. It really made me happy which is, after all, exactly what I needed when I read this book. It's always great when books can give you those answers. This one did.
I actually listened to this book as an audiobook instead of reading it, and I'm so glad I did. Anthony Bourdain narrates it himself, and his delivery adds so much to his already brash memoir of the insanity that is the American restaraunt industry. Regardless, I would recommend this to anyone who likes memoirs, food, or if you're ok having a newfound wariness surrounding a bistro's end-of-the-week lunch special.
